Feb 20 was the ribbon cutting and opening party for the new $30 million downtown waterfront at Clematis Street, at the Intracoastal Waterway.

I shot their bridal shower in 2008, and so it was fun to see Mellis & Glen again, this time at the groom’s 30th birthday bash

at the supercool ‘W South Beach’ Resort, Miami Beach.

Congratulations to Jim & Sally: their wedding was the first event to be held there following the three-year restoration of the historical Sea Gull Cottage, the oldest house on Palm Beach and a unique piece of the Henry Flagler legacy in South Florida. Constructed in 1886, Sea Gull cottage was purchased by Henry Flagler in 1893 and became Flagler’s first winter residence in Palm Beach. In 1984 Sea Gull was moved and restored by the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach. It is now the Parish House of the Royal Poinciana Chapel.

Michele works with my sister  back home, and we got ourselves down to the funky City Museum of St. Louis the morning after Thanksgiving for a walk-around environmental portrait session - the kids (they are twins) were great and the weather was pretty good for a Midwestern Winter day!

We just finished a custom Hardcover Delux coffee-table photo book project for a favorite client,  Susan — who manages a women’s fashion boutique on the island – and her husband, Ashley.   We did their Delray Beach wedding in 2007.

Brides, it really is a good idea to have a tidy hotel room for your Getting Ready & Pre-Ceremony shots, Sometimes it looks like a hurricane passed through, and that doesn’t make for great photos. This client knew that already, and we made good use of her pricey resort. This wedding was also one of my best custom photo book projects.

There’s a recipe for setting up the camera for capturing sparkler shoots like this, and so it’s good for me to get a head’s up in advance to be ready for this kind of thing. The hotel staff gave us plenty of warning.
